Debden School Captures Sixth Consecutive District Mixed Curling Title

Debden Public School and the Debden Curling Club hosted the North Central District Mixed High School curling championships on February 6 & 7.  Teams came from Carlton Public High School, W.P. Sandin Public High School, Canwood Public School, Meath Park Public School, 2 teams from St. Mary’s in P.A. and Debden Public School.  There was some excellent curling over the two days.  The Debden team, made up of skip Desiree Beaulieu, third Cole Aarrestad, second Juli Gustafson and lead Sam Wasacase were undefeated in the event.  St. Mary’s #1 captured the ‘B’ Event and will also represent North Central District at Regional playoffs in Nipawin on February 27 & 28.  This is the sixth consecutive year that the Debden team has won the district trophy and went on to represent the district in regional play.  The past two years Debden has come home from provincial play with a silver medal, maybe this will be their year for gold.  Good luck curlers.
